Zhai Zun
Zhai Zun (; died 33 CE), courtesy name Disun (弟孫), was a Chinese military commander of the Han Dynasty. A native of Yingchuan in Anhui, who joined the standard of Liu Xiu, and rose to high military command. He operated against the southern barbarians, and aided in the overthrow of Xiao Wei. A stern disciplinarian, he put to death his own son for breach of the law. He wore common leather breeches and cotton socks, distributing all his prize-money among his soldiers, who were strictly forbidden to pillage, and whose leisure hours he sought to fill up with refined and intellectual amusements. Even in war time he would not suffer the usual religious ceremonies to be neglected. He was ennobled as Marquis, and canonised as Cheng (成), and his portrait was subsequently hung in the Yuntai (雲臺) gallery. ==References==
